About Kennebec Lumber

Quality wood products from Maine. Three generations of the Carrier family have worked in northern Maine, all dedicated to producing the highest quality hardwood products available. Founded by my grandfather, our Jackman, Maine company flourished and now employs hundreds of hardworking Maine people. In 1999 we established Kennebec Lumber Company in Solon, Maine. We pride ourselves on our ability to produce world class, high quality hardwood products with personal care and a commitment to detail.

Kennebec Lumber Company is sixty-percent self sufficient for wood supply. Our foresters and loggers adhere to the guidelines of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, making us a leader in eco-friendly forest management. Harvested logs are transported to our mill where they are graded and sorted based on the optimum quality and market demand.

The care and attention to details is continued at the mill by our NHLA certified inspectors. Efficient use of the harvested logs produces the highest possible yield of manufactured boards. Veteran kiln operators monitor the drying process both by traditional sampling and by computer, producing flat, stress-free lumber with average moisture content of seven percent.

Our rough or surfaced lumber is strapped and blocked in our mill, either for storing in our warehouse until shipment, or for milling by experienced woodworking craftsmen to produce custom components and dimension stock for furniture and molding manufacturers.

As an active member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association, Kennebec Lumber Company will continue to maintain responsible environmental practices of sustainable forestry and operate high yield, highly efficient sawmills and reinvest to maintain our position of leadership in the industry.
